Ms Ada Scalzi

Ada was born in Milan (Italy) emigrated to Adelaide with her family in 1972, she graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Arts. 

Ada has been  a sworn Police Officer with the South Australian Police Department for about 25 years (now retired). 

Her carrier in SAPOL has been vast,  she became a Senior Police Prosecutor specialising in Family and Domestic Violence cases, Mental health cases and Aboriginal Community Court cases for approximately 17 years at the Adelaide Magistrate Court. 

She has prosecuted approximately  25 thousand cases in her time as a Police Prosecutor in the Specialised Courts. She was a consultant for SAPOL as part of a working group which changed the previous Restraining Order Act, to the new Intervention Order Act in 2011, due to her experience in the Family Violence Court cases. 

She is a strong advocate for  raising community awareness about family and domestic violence,  elder abuse and victims’ rights and is an integral part of workshops and information sessions to raise this awareness within the community. 

She is passionate about raising culturally and linguistic awareness and is involved in a number of different committees both Italo- Australian and mainstream organisation to ensure this.
